Hammerstone’s Bourbon Shrimp
Shrimp is easy, versatile, and quick to cook. Shrimp is a high-protein, low-calorie alternative to other meats and fish. Our love affair with shrimp is no secret. And, when we spot a chance to create a recipe for it, we’re all over it. In about the time it takes to preheat your oven, these ingredients come together to form a perfect plate of flavor-full goodness, which is what makes this the ideal, quick and easy dinner to share with friends. We also like to treat our friends to a tipple of our favorite bourbon poured over one of our handcrafted whiskey stones. We find that good friends, fine bourbon and delectable food make for some great memories.
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Bourbon
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire
- 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
- 3 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
- Salt and pepper
- 24 shelled, de-veined shrimp (26 to 30 per lb.), rinsed and drained
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic and stir until golden, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add Bourbon, Worcestershire, and hot sauce. Light contents with a long match and let the alcohol burn off. Return to heat and add butter, one piece at a time, stirring to incorporate into sauce. Add shrimp, cooking 3-4 minutes per side or until cooked through. Add salt and pepper to taste.
