Jack Daniel’s® Wood Smoking Chips
Jack Daniel’s® Wood Smoking Chips are made from authentic Jack Daniel’s® Oak Aging Barrels. Throughout their use, whiskey is drawn in and out of the oak wood barrels. The barrels are then emptied at maturity and a portion of the whiskey remains inside the wood – this is sometimes refered to as The Devil’s Cut. Wood chips are cut directly from the whiskey-saturated barrel staves. The chips capture a pleasant mix of caramel, vanilla and wood notes that impart an extraordinary smoked flavor to grilled foods.
When you open the bag, the intoxicating sweet smell of mash hits you. These chips perfect for smoking, but can also be used when grilling with gas or charcoal. Here at Hammerstone’s Whiskey Disks we like to use them when charcoal grilling. First, we soak the wood chips in a bowl of water for 30 minutes before starting. This allows the wood chips to smoke, rather than burn, once they’re placed on hot charcoal. Light your charcoal barbecue and allow the barbecue to come up to a stable temperature. Then, place a handful of wood chips on the lit charcoal embers, to the side of the grill.
You’ll enjoy the flavor these chips give to your grilled food. You’ll also enjoy the knowledge that you’re giving one last breath of life to a secret stash of whiskey stored between those grains of wood.
